Gorgeous Greece Mamma Mia Tour
In very little need for introduction, there are a million reasons to travel to Greece. Greece offers sunshine, seafood, whitewashed houses with bright-blue shutters, and a relaxed, Zorba-the-Greek lifestyle. As the cradle of Western civilization, it has some of the world’s greatest ancient monuments. While it’s a late bloomer in the modern age and retains echoes of a simpler, time-passed world, contemporary Greece has one of Europe’s fastest-changing cultural landscapes. With its classical past, hang-loose present, and edgy future, Greece offers something for every traveller.

Meteora, located in central Greece, is a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site known for its towering rock formations and historic monasteries perched atop these natural pillars. These monasteries were constructed to serve as places of solitude and spiritual retreat, offering incredible views of the surrounding landscape. Today, six of the original twenty-four monasteries remain active, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike who come to marvel at the architectural ingenuity and spiritual serenity of this unique destination. The area also offers excellent hiking opportunities, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of Meteora.

“Life is short, the world is wide, and I wanna make some memories.” – Sophie – Mamma Mia The Movie
On our Gorgeous Greece Tour in 2026, we will not be visiting Santorini or Mykonos.
While these destinations have their charm, we’ve found them to be overwhelmingly populated by cruise ship tourists, making the environment congested and detracting from the authentic experience we aim to provide.
Moreover, Mykonos is renowned as a party island, focusing on beach clubs and nightlife, which may not align with everyone’s interests.
That said, we encourage those keen on exploring these islands to arrange a visit either before or after this tour, as they can easily be reached by a short flight or ferry.

🧳 Packing for Greece in September
September is a beautiful time to visit Greece—sunny and warm, but with a gentler heat than July. You’ll still want comfortable walking shoes for exploring ruins and cobbled streets, plus sandals for beach days. If you’ll be swimming, water shoes or reef-safe sandals are wise to avoid injury from sea urchins or rocky shores.
👗 Clothing Essentials
Pack a bathing suit, light sundresses, and short-sleeved tops for daytime adventures. You’ll likely pick up a few souvenir tees, so no need to overpack. For evenings or breezy ferry rides, a lightweight jacket or wrap is ideal. Cotton and linen fabrics will keep you cool and comfortable, especially in coastal areas.
🕊️ Cultural Considerations
If you’re visiting churches or attending religious festivals, bring long pants or a skirt and a sleeved shirt. A scarf is a versatile addition—use it for sun protection, modesty, or a touch of elegance when entering sacred spaces.
🌅 Style Notes
September invites a softer palette—think earthy tones, flowing fabrics, and layers that move with the breeze. You’ll feel right at home dressing lightly, but with a nod to the season’s shift.

In September, the capital Athens remains warm and welcoming, with plenty of sunshine and only a slight chance of rain. The islands share similar conditions, making it an ideal time to explore both city and sea.
🌤️ Weather Averages
In Athens, daytime temperatures average around 28°C, with highs reaching up to 32°C in early September. Evenings are pleasantly cooler, dipping to around 18°C after dark. The sea remains warm enough for swimming, and the summer crowds begin to thin, offering a more relaxed pace for travellers.
🍂 Why September Shines
With golden light, balmy breezes, and fewer tourists, September is a beautiful time to visit Greece. It’s perfect for slow travel—wandering ruins, enjoying long lunches by the water, and soaking in the rhythm of local life.
Dietary Considerations
While we strive to create nourishing and enjoyable experiences for all our guests, we’re unfortunately unable to accommodate complex dietary requirements on our tours—including vegan, strict gluten-free needs or coeliac disease.
If your dietary preferences are something you can confidently manage yourself, you’re very welcome to join us. However, please understand that in foreign countries, even with the best intentions, things can occasionally get lost in translation. Cross-contamination is common in kitchens unfamiliar with coeliac protocols, and we cannot guarantee the safety of meals provided by third-party venues.
For this reason, we’re unable to take responsibility for individual health and wellbeing related to food. Your safety and comfort are deeply important to us, and we would never want a guest to become unwell while travelling.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to reach out if you have questions about what’s typically available on tour.
Mobility & Fitness
Our tours are designed to offer a rich and immersive experience, which often includes guided walking tours through villages, archaeological sites, and scenic landscapes. Participants can expect uneven footpaths, stairs, and other elements that require good mobility and balance.
We recommend that women joining our tours have a moderate level of fitness and feel comfortable walking for extended periods. While each itinerary varies slightly, we typically cover between 5 and 7 kilometres over the course of a day—at a relaxed, conversational pace with plenty of breaks.
If you have any concerns about mobility or fitness, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to help you assess whether a particular tour is the right fit.
To ensure a safe and healthy journey, it’s important to be up-to-date with your vaccinations. We recommend consulting with a healthcare professional or visiting a travel health clinic for personalised advice based on your travel itinerary. For comprehensive information on required and recommended vaccinations, please visit Travel Doctor. They provide expert guidance to help you stay protected while exploring the world.
