Virgin Australia is making a triumphant return to international long-haul travel, more than five years after stepping back from overseas operations. As the airline rebounds from its challenges in 2020, it’s preparing to launch flights to Doha, Qatar—home to Virgin’s strategic partner, Qatar Airways.
Starting in late June, passengers can fly from Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth to Doha, where they’ll have seamless onward connections to the UK, Europe, and South Africa. Melbourne will follow suit from December 1.
These new routes will significantly expand flight options, complementing Qatar Airways’ existing services. With the additional Virgin Australia flights, Sydney-Doha, Brisbane-Doha, and Perth-Doha will now offer double-daily departures, while Melbourne-Doha will see three flights per day.

Virgin Australia’s return to long-haul international travel marks a major milestone for the airline and an exciting expansion for Australian travellers seeking greater global connectivity.
