Iโm sorry, I can see this is practical, but it did make me giggle a bit.
I donโt think itโs on my list for retreat centers, I try to avoid mosquitos. I wonder if there are entire suits made of mosquito netting that you can get to walk around in? It would have been a useful item to have at a Buddhist center I visited once, where I nearly ended up in the local psychiatric unit after a day of not being able to kill the mosquitos that were feasting on my flesh!
I do have a funny mosquito story though.
While staying at Oneworld Retreats this year, (the venue for our Bali Mindfulness Retreat) I had a phone call from reception asking me to vacate my room, because, I quote, โA man wanting to smoke in your roomโ. WTF!!?! I thought to myself. I asked the receptionist, โCan you please repeat what you said?โ
โWell Miss Tammie, can you pleeeeeaaase leave your room because a man wanting to smoke in thereโ. Ok, this is the most bizarre request Iโve ever had. So out I go โฆ and who knows what they were doingโฆ Yes, of course, smoking to remove any mosquitos. I had never heard of this technique before.
The funniest part of this was just how accepting I was of a man wanting to smoke in my room (if youโve been to Bali, youโll know what I mean โ random stuff happens). Man wants to smoke in my room, weird, OK. Almost as funny as when I went to the hairdresser in Bali, and she sends me through her house to the shower to wash my own hair before blow-drying it!
